It’s officially autumn. From here on, the days get colder, the nights get darker and the leaves get crisper.

As we pack away the memories and remnants of a hot summer, you might be looking to the months ahead and wondering how you can add some of that warmth back into your home. To help you out, we’ve pulled together some handy tips for creating a cosy haven.

ADD SOME SOFT FURNISHINGS

Autumn and the colder months ahead are all about relaxing in front of your favourite tv show under a cosy blanket whilst hiding from the elements outside. Plus introducing throws and pillows to a room can make it look cosy as well as feel it. It’s also a good time to switch out lighter summer curtains for heavier drapes to help with any heat loss via windows and keep cold draughts out.

Don’t forget the colour palette, incorporating autumnal colours into your home decor can add to the cosy ambience.

INSTALL A STOVE

A wood burning or gas stove is a great addition to any home that requires some instant additional warmth. Plus there is no better way to spend a chilly autumn evening than being huddled around a crackling stove, sharing stories with your family over a tummy-warming hot drink.

With energy bills reportedly on the rise, installing a stove can also be a very efficient and economic way of adding heat to the home. There are so many stoves to choose from, in many different styles but modern stove technology has assured that the majority of new stoves have an efficiency rating of upwards of 70-80%. You could even support your current central heating system, and help reduce your heating bills, by installing a wood burning boiler stove.

CHECK YOUR HEATING SYSTEM

Speaking of central heating, if you haven’t already done so – now is a good time to have your heating system checked and avoid any costly breakdown and callout charges. Book your boiler in for its annual maintenance so that any issues are detected early and remember to have your heating appliances serviced too, especially gas stoves and fires.

If you are in the Dorset area and would like to book an installation or service, you can drop us an email at info@kbgasstoves.com – we’ll be happy to get you booked in.
